Threats and opportunities of increasing openness in the mobile ecosystemMobile phones today are about as powerful as PCs were in 2002, so anything we could do then should be possible on a phone now. In reality, there is a large gap between the computing hardware in these phones and their actual capabilities. The major limitations are in the closed networks and business models predominant today. This year has seen a sea change in the mobile industry with many of the mobile Operating Systems opening up their source code and providing SDK's, to stimulate development of new mobile products and services. This session will examine the threats and opportunities this presents to the mobile industry. Rudy de Waele M Trends |
